Year 7 Reflection Day, St Francis de Sales

Last week, 120 students enjoyed a fantastic day exploring the Laratinga Wetlands in Mt Barker.

With binoculars, identification charts and a worksheet in hand, students were equipped to identify birds inhabiting the wetlands. Topics discussed included Water quality, species diversity and aquatic vegetation - all indicators of a balanced ecosystem.

Looking for wetland birds

Whilst water birds were the focus, the highlight was finding a ring-tailed possum in its drey high up in the trees – can you see its tail?

Environmental Connections was one part of four sessions delivered on the day.
